How was the Mankato pow wow?

A good time, as always!

Just about ready for another great pow wow!
Here are the grounds on Friday afternoon, prior to the pow wow starting. Such a big place doesn't seem so large once everyone is here.

The Mankato wacipi usually draws from 12 to 20 drums from Minnesota, and the Dakotas. There usually over 300 dancers registered by Saturday night.
The eagle feather staffs are lined up during grand entry Saturday evening. There is always an impressive number of staffs present.

The Mankato pow wow is held in a park called Land 'O' Memories park located where the Blue Earth river enters the Minnesota river. This is a historic location belonging to the Mdewakantonwan people. This pow wow honors the 38 Dakota hanged in 1862, in this country's largest mass murder in history.
All flags are standing at attention to the Dakota national anthem.

Some grass dancers, just a handful of the many dancers here during the weekend.
